For years, the Suez Canal has been the standard route connecting Asia and Europe.
Now, the Arctic is emerging as a new option. A recent voyage from China to the UK shows that the Northern Sea Route can significantly shorten sailing time, but its seasonal nature and operational challenges remain major limitations.
For shippers, the question is not simply which route is faster, but which route offers the right balance of speed, reliability and flexibility.
